THE WITTENBERG SPORTSMEN’S CLUB WAS CHARTERED IN 1930. It is a members-only club privately situated in the lower Catskill Mountains in Ulster County just outside of Woodstock situated on 165 acres of pristine wooded land that includes a stocked 20-acre lake. Surrounded by 838 acres of NYDEP protected land assures that this land will be forever conserved.

A unique and active organization, the Wittenberg Sportsmen’s Club consists of serious yet friendly outdoor types who enjoy involving themselves in all aspects of their callings: hunting, fishing, target shooting, archery, hiking, picnicking, while preserving the quality of life for those who enjoy the out-of-doors.

The Wittenberg Sportsmen’s Club is a members-only club and is incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation under the State of New York. An elected board of directors and trustees, president, vice-president, and secretary-treasurer governs the club.

The primary purpose of the Club is to conserve and protect the fish and game of the area, conserve our waters, lands, and forest, to protect our right to keep and bear arms, to sponsor and promote good sportsmanship through proficiency in marksmanship of all forms and kinds, and to advocate and instruct safety in the practice of the same.

Our newly constructed clubhouse in 2021 is situated on the opposite end of our pavilion property providing members with a gathering place for winter meetings, member and family events and include some community events including game dinners, Christmas parties, pumpkin carving night, and indoor youth archery.

The Club operates through the efforts of a substantial number of volunteers, and all members share in the responsibility of assisting in keeping the Club clean, safe, and well maintained to assure its use by future generations.
